Chinese game ‘Langrisser Mobile’ limits the cancellation period(or cooling-off period) to ‘two days after purchase’ through its terms and conditions in South Korea. This is a violation of the South Korean e-commerce law (ACT ON THE CONSUMER PROTECTION IN ELECTRONIC COMMERCE, ETC.) that defines the cancellation period as ‘7 days after purchase’.

'Langrisser Mobile' is a mobile RPG developed based on classic Japanese console game ‘Langrisser’ that was published in the 1990s. The Chinese game company Zlongame released the game in China in 2018 August. The game was very popular in China.

Zlongame launched 'Langrisser Mobile' on June 4th in South Korea. The game has been very popular in South Korea, as well. Zlongame has been collaborating with X.D Global on co-marketing in South Korea. Zlongame established a branch office in South Korea in October 2018.

The problem is the article 16 in terms and conditions that stipulates ‘cancellation’ (or cooling-off system). The e-commerce law in South Korea stipulates that the user can cancel the deal in ‘7 days’ after purchase. However, the terms and conditions of the 'Langrisser Mobile' stipulate that the user can cancel the deal in ‘2 days’ after purchase.

Many South Korean game companies operate a system that allows users to cancel the deal within 7 days of purchase in their PC online games or mobile games. The South Korea Fair Trade Commission imposes sanctions on the companies that do not observe these rules.

It is also a problem that the exceptions that the consumer can not cancel the deal are stated only in terms and conditions. There are no warning message in-game stores where items are sold.

The South Korean e-commerce Law stipulates that consumers should be able to easily understand the facts that some items are not refundable. Game companies that observe these regulations clearly state that ‘This item is not refundable’ on some items. However, 'Langrisser Mobile' does not state in-game shop that ‘some items are not refundable’.
