A case of purchasing the 'Eternal Orbs' at a remarkably low price in the Korean version of 'Diablo Immortal' was discovered. 'Eternal Orbs' is a currency used to purchase various items in 'Diablo Immortal'.
In the South Korean version of 'Diablo Immortal', 'Eternal Orbs' are sold at 119,000 KRW for 7,200 pieces. However, through an unusual method used by some users, 7,200 'Eternal Orbs' can be purchased for 8,000 KRW. This is about 6.7% of the original price. This unusual method is to ask a Chinese broker to make a purchase.
The Chinese broker conducted the transaction using the South Korean mobile messenger 'KakaoTalk'. When a South Korean user sends money to a Chinese broker and delivers their account information, the Chinese broker accesses the account and purchases items. It is unknown how the Chinese broker purchased the 'Eternal Orbs' at a lower price than the original price.
Through this broker, many South Korean users purchased the 'Eternal Orbs' at a price significantly lower than the original price. And the Chinese broker took the commission.
It is estimated that many South Korean users quickly strengthened their characters in this way. And some users may have sold their account that has been strengthened in this way to other users for cash.
Blizzard Entertainment posted a notice on the 13th AUG. Blizzard Entertainment said, "We have been investigating the behavior of purchasing 'Eternal Orbs' in an unusual way, and now users cannot purchase 'Eternal Orbs' in that way. An investigation into accounts that abnormally purchased the 'Eternal Orbs' is currently underway, and sanctions may be imposed on those accounts in the future."
And on September 1st, a notice was posted that some accounts were sanctioned. Blizzard Entertainment said, "All of the abnormally purchased 'Eternal Orbs' have been retrieved. Sanctions, including permanent suspension, have been imposed on some accounts.”
In the South Korean version, it was not known which account was subject to which sanctions. This is the opposite of the Chinese version of 'Diablo: Immortal', which specifies the server, time, and reason for blocking of users who committed cheating. Considering the weight of this case, it is necessary to raise awareness by disclosing users who have committed abnormal behavior.
On the other hand, it is expected that this situation will not be resolved with Blizzard Entertainment's announcement alone. 'Diablo Immortal' Naver official lounge has a lot of articles related to refunds. In addition, it is known that some users are preparing a class action lawsuit.
