Lexar is a well-known memory manufacturer. It was founded in 1996 as a spin-off of the memory business from Cirrus Logic, an American semiconductor manufacturer. Even after Micron Technology acquired Lexar in 2006, the Lexar brand has continued.

However, in 2017, Micron announced its withdrawal from the memory business and looked for a partner to acquire Lexar. And Longsys, a Chinese flash memory company showed up. Longsys became the largest shareholder of Lexar, and the brand of Lexar has continued to this day.

Haesole was the only place to exclusively showcase Lexar products in South Korea. However, since only flash memory-focused products that were previously handled were distributed in South Korea, there was no way to formally meet with domestic consumers for the products needed for games.

However, Johnson Choi who oversees Lexar's South Korean business took office, and things began to change. CEO Choi served as the branch manager of BenQ Korea and Viewsonic International Korea, and has been serving as the South Korean business representative for Lexar products since last February.

The first thing he did was to expand the business area. Through Haesole, it maintains the sole distributor for existing memory products, and through its new domestic partner, ETEVERS eBT, it has been distributing new products in the SSD and DRAM sectors in South Korea for some time.

Regarding the current market competitiveness of Lexar, CEO Choi said, “In the memory card market, Lexar can be said to be the top three along with Samsung Electronics and SanDisk, but SSD and DRAM are not. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix together occupy about 80% of the market share,” he said.

So, what is Rexar trying to focus on? These are high-performance products that can fit into a gaming PC. CEO Choi said that he plans to focus on M.2 series products for SSD and DDR5 series products for DRAM. It is said that they are trying to inform consumers of Lexar's products with excellent price/performance ratio.

Currently, in the M.2 series, PCIe Gen 3 products as well as NM800, a product that supports PCIe Gen 4, are being introduced as the latest models. The general model is slightly different depending on the capacity, but it shows up to 7,400MB/s read and 5,800MB/s write performance.

The high-end PRO model boasts powerful specifications of up to 7,500MB/s reading and 6,500MB/s writing. Therefore, if you install it as an additional storage on the latest PC or console game machine such as PS5, you can experience faster transfer speed.

In addition, in the case of DDR5 memory corresponding to Intel's 13th generation CPU or AMD's Ryzen 7 CPU, it supports a basic bandwidth of 4,800 and up to 5,200 MHz and is equipped with an aluminum heat sink. This memory is named ARES, and there are models that support RGB LEDs. The price is high as it has not been popularized yet, but we plan to introduce it at a reasonable price through official domestic distribution.

How about after-sales service? In response, CEO Choi said, "ETEVERS eBT has built a service center and a logistics center in one building, so that it can respond quickly and respond immediately to customer service."

He added, “As a troika company for domestic PC distribution along with Samtech and Daewon, we are preparing to make Lexar products reach consumers in the South Korean market through extensive offline channels.”

Lastly, CEO Choi said, “Our goal is to make Lexar a major memory brand in the South Korean market, and we are working to resolve consumers’ distrust of foreign brands. We will provide new products in quality, price and service that match the memory brand value accumulated in card products.”
