On January 31st, an article about Devsisters was posted on an anonymous community in Korea. According to the article, managers at an organization that had been running for the past two to three years were promoted before the holidays. However, about 40 employees who belonged to the team were laid off at 1:00 pm on the 30th. They were instructed to return their equipment and leave the company by 6 p.m.

And at 5:40 p.m., the accounts of the work programs used by the laid-off employees were suspended. At 5:50 p.m., an email regarding the reorganization was sent in the name of the Devsisters CEO. Employees who were laid off did not receive this email. In addition, it is said that among the employees who were laid off, there were employees who joined in January 2023.

An employee who posted on an anonymous community said, “The CEO of Devsisters is truly phenomenal. He may have earned money for the rest of his life, but he won't last long. It was clear this time that the CEO was blinded by money. So don't pretend that Devsisters is a company that creates happiness. It's disgusting,” he criticized.

The team that was laid off this time is known as the team that was in charge of “My Cookie Run,” a fan platform based on the “Cookie Run” IP. My Cookie Run, which was unveiled in 2021, is a fan platform service composed of ‘Cookie Run’-related content, a store where you can purchase various goods and a community where users can communicate.

And My Cookie Run opened a global Cookie Run store in April 2022. However, the business stopped working after 9 months. And the employees received layoff notices the same day.

When this article was posted, many people in the game industry complained that 'Devsisters is doing too much'. It is said that it is a condition of giving three months' wages to those who leave, but the response is that it is too much to fire them on the same day. There was even talk of changing the name of the company to 'Dismissed Sisters'.

Regarding this, Devsisters said, “We reviewed the My Cookie Run project internally. As a result, we decided to close this project," he said. "We are guiding employees to move to other departments to work."

Regarding this, the employees who were laid off showed a reaction of 'absurd'. Employees who were laid off were reportedly given paid leave until the end of February. If Devsisters was going to move these employees to another department, there would be no need to block the accounts of the work programs they were using.
