Not long ago, the announcement of a collaboration involving the MMORPG "Lineage W" by NCSOFT gained public attention.
This was because the collaboration is happening with Saga Prefecture in Japan, surpassing the common practice of collaborations limited to a single store or building, especially on a municipal level.
Saga Prefecture has previously engaged in collaborations with numerous anime and games within Japan, including "Romancing Saga," "Splatoon," and "Street Fighter," as well as the "Zombie Land Saga" series. However, this marks the first such collaboration between a Korean IP, "Lineage W," and Saga Prefecture.
Moreover, this collaboration is being conducted both online and offline, making it a considerable undertaking. The online collaboration began on the 17th of last month.
During a specified period, the “Saga Prefecture Expedition” will be added to the Expedition tab of the Magic Doll's menu. Aden Village square will feature a wooden doll who has visited Saga Prefecture, encouraging users to embark on explorations together. This will allow players to explore Saga Prefecture's landmarks, such as “Takeo Onsen Numon” and “Yutoku Inari Shrine,” together with the wooden doll. After completing the exploration, players can obtain “Saga Prefecture Commemorative Coins.”
These coins can be exchanged for various specialties available in Saga Prefecture at the event store. The special items include a ¡ã Garatsugun Red Lion Magic Doll Skin Card ¡ã Saga Beef ¡ã Marubouro ¡ã Ureshino Tea, created based on Saga Prefecture's representative symbols, providing various items that enhance the user’s abilities for a certain period of time.
Once the online collaboration concludes on January 31, the offline collaboration in Saga Prefecture will commence from February 1 to March 3, featuring elements related to "Lineage W" in key areas of Saga Prefecture.
Upon visiting Saga Prefecture, the first thing visitors will encounter on the second floor of Saga International Airport is the history and art exhibits of "Lineage W" updates and a life-sized exhibit of therare in-game item, the Execution Sword. This exhibit is Japan's first public display of a 1:1 size Execution Sword.
Here, various elements related to the game world, including BGM from "Lineage W," specially planned and produced magic dolls, dungeon background paintings, and more, will be exhibited to provide visitors with a complete experience of the game universe.
On the first floor of the airport, a photo spot featuring the representative character of "Lineage W," Death Knight, will be installed, allowing visitors to take special commemorative photos. Furthermore, a stamp rally quest, similar to the in-game “Emblem Quest,” will be held inside the airport. After the completion of the quest, the first 1,000 participants will be rewarded with collaboration coupons. Furthermore, customers ordering drinks at the airport's restaurants and cafes will receive a “Lineage W coaster.”
Beyond the airport, the collaboration extends to an onsen hotel. At the “Furuyu Onsen ONCRI” in Saga City Furuyu District, rooms with a "Lineage W" concept have been prepared.
These collaboration rooms are adorned with the four dragons from "Lineage W": Antharas, Valakas, Fafurion, and Lindvior. Visitors can enjoy dinner with a table set themed on the game world. Additionally, participants can receive "Lineage W" themed long-sleeved T-shirts, towels, and Lord's Cloaks during their stay.
Lastly, at famous tourist spots within Saga Prefecture, including Yutoku Inari Shrine, Saga International Airport, Takeo Onsen, Hikiyama Exhibition Hall, and the Ureshino Tea Exchange Center “Chaoshiru,” a photo rally event will take place. The participants can capture augmented reality (AR) photos with "Lineage W" characters. Uploading these photos to social media will also allow the participants to enter a draw for prizes.
