A LED desk lamp is an essential household appliance for everyday life. A few years ago, fluorescent lamps were usually used, but nowadays, most of the products are using LEDs.

Some of the LED desk lamps that have recently been released include a variety of additional features. But their design could be better. At this time, Samsung Electronics and Kakao friends have collaborated to launch a new LED desk lamp. Let me introduce 'LED desk lamp Ryan' (product code: SLD-11NC10N) which is very charming.

■ Neat design and cute Ryan

This product is a premium LED desk lamp equipped with one of the characters of Kakao friends. The character is Ryan, a male lion without mane, which is the most popular character of Kakao friends.

The product box is quite big. There is a logo that symbolizes collaboration between the two companies, and there is also Ryan. The box is packed well enough to prevent the product from being damaged.

You can see lovely Ryan from all over the product. In the head of LED desk lamp, there is Ryan's face, and in the main body, Ryan is lying on his face. Each of the three buttons has a Ryan symbol that represents the mode.

Product colors are white and navy. The product consists of body, arm, and head. The head can be turned 180 degrees to the left, 90 degrees to the right, and 120 degrees up and down. Also, the arm connected to the body can be raised vertically and down to 85 degrees.

The product does not turn upside down easily, because the center of gravity is on the body side. Each connection has a handle. If the connection is loose, turn this knob to tighten it.

Now let's look at the function of this LED desk lamp. The touch-sensitive buttons consist of the turn on/off button, brightness level buttons, and mode settings. The amount of light can be adjusted in 6 steps from 30% to maximum brightness.

You can adjust the brightness level by touching the brightness level buttons or by sliding your finger.

Since there is no boundary line between the power button and the 1-level brightness button, you may inadvertently press the turn on/off button, while adjusting the brightness. The turn on/off button pops out slightly, but it is very sensitive. It would be better if there was a border separating the turn on/off button and the 1-level brightness button. Note that pressing brightness button does not turn on this product. First turn on and adjust the brightness.

The head of this product consists of 18 LEDs at 2,700K color temperature and 18 LEDs at 6,500K color temperature. With these LEDs, this product can express three color temperatures. 

The rest mode (2,700K) expresses a color temperature similar to sunlight. The rest mode is appropriate for taking a break or drawing a picture. The reading mode (4,500K) is suitable for reading books or memorizing something. The repair mode (6,500K) is good when you need to stay focused.

There is a USB slot on the front of the product. It can be connected to various devices supporting USB charging. This slot supports both normal charging (DC 5V 2A) and fast charging (Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 DC 9V 1.67A). The USB slot allows you to charge your smartphone as well as your tablet PC.

Unfortunately, the features that have been applied to other LED desk lamp of Samsung Electronics are missing in this product. For example, the other LED desk lamp of Samsung Electronics includes wireless charging. However, it is understandable that this product is missing the wireless charging function because there is Ryan character in the main body.

But when I put this product on my desk and looked at cute Ryan as I was using it, the fact that this product was missing some functions didn’t really matter. If you want a neat design, basic functions, and a LED desk lamp with cute Ryan looking at me, this product would be the best choice.
