The Chinese government has once again issued licenses for foreign games, including three domestic games.

On the 2nd, the National Press and Publication Administration of China (NPPA) announced that it had issued licenses for service rights to 32 foreign games. Among them are famous IP-based games such as “One Piece,” “Sonic,” “Gundam,” and “Yu Yu Hakusho,” as well as popular console platform games like “Star Kirby Star Allies,” “Gintama,” “Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart,” and “Horizon Zero Dawn.”

Additionally, the list this time included “Dungeon and Fighter: Origin” (地下城勇士: 起源), “The King of Fighters: Allstar” (拳皇全明星), and “Cats & Soup” (猫咪和汤).

Among these, “Dungeon and Fighter: Origin” has a great deal of garnered attention. It was confirmed that this game is actually “Dungeon and Fighter Mobile” from Nexon. Although it had obtained a license in 2016 and was set to be released through Tencent in 2020, its service was indefinitely postponed just before the release.

However, by changing its name and obtaining a new license, it has resumed its strategy to target the Chinese market. The publisher that obtained the new license is reported to be Shanghai Yukong Information Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of TENCENT.

Furthermore, “The King of Fighters: Allstar” was confirmed to be a mobile action RPG released by Netmarble in 2019. The publisher is Beijing Galaxy Main Network Technology Co., Ltd. However, it is known that Netmarble was not the leading developer of this game, but was instead responsible for providing in-game resources and technical consultations.

Lastly, “Cats & Soup” is an idle game developed by the NEOWIZ subsidiary, HI DEAR, and released in 2021. The publisher is Cheongdu Jinshan Shiyu JuoRi Technology Co., Ltd., which is known to be a game company under the KINGSOFT Group. Last May, NEOWIZ signed a publishing contract with KINGSOFT SHIYOU.

Meanwhile, along with the news of the licenses issed for these companies, the related stocks surged temporarily. NEXON GAMES, a subsidiary of NEXON, rose by up to 21.94% at one point during trading, while NETMARBLE rose by up to 7.96%. NEOWIZ also saw an increase of up to 14.12%.

In addition, with the revelation that “Legend of Emperor: Awakening” is a game from Beijing Lungtu Sync Tank Technology Co., Ltd., a company listed in Korea, the stock price of Lungtu Korea rose by up to 17.41% during the trading window.
