The collaboration between WEMADE and SK Planet has finally come to fruition, manifesting as a mutual conversion between the virtual asset WEMIX and the mileage currency OK Cashbag.

The WEMIX Foundation announced via a notice that from February 14th, it has become possible to instantly purchase WEMIX by converting OK Cashbag points accumulated through savings and recharges.

This conversion marks the first step, since WEMADE and SK Planet formed a strategic partnership in August 2023, to expand the blockchain and platform market ecosystems.

Beyond a simple partnership, the two companies have proceeded with an strategic affiliation by investing in each other's shares. WEMADE and its subsidiary, ChuanQi IP, acquired 7.08% and 5.31% of SK Planet's shares from the parent company SK Square, with the total amounting to 35 billion won.

Moreover, SK Planet acquired 20 billion won worth of convertible bonds (CB) issued by WEMADE, and bought shares worth approximately 15 billion won from Chairman Park Kwan-ho, thus holding about 1.27% of WEMADE. At the time, Chairman Park utilized the proceeds from the sale to purchase WEMIX, with a focus on vitalizing the ecosystem.

At that time, the two companies announced their plans to actively explore various joint marketing and promotional activities, utilizing their technological prowess and service strengths, and to expand their cooperation into the blockchain domain, including OK Cashbag NFT memberships. Now, 7 months later, it seems that the partnership is taking its first steps.

However, this conversion is only available through Korbit, a domestic virtual asset exchange. To spur conversions, an additional 5% of the purchased WEMIX amount will be given when buying WEMIX with OK Cashbag, and 1% of the purchase cost will be reimbursed.

Meanwhile, WEMADE's Chairman Park Kwan-ho is returning to the executive management team as the Chairman and CEO. Having been appointed through the Board of Directors, he is succeeded by former CEO Jang Hyun-kook, who plans to support Chairman Park as the Vice Chairman of WEMADE.

Chairman Park Kwan-ho is one of South Korea's leading first-generation game developers. He founded WEMADE in February 2000, and has led the development and service of “The Legend of Mir2,” an online PC game that achieved unprecedented success in Korea and China.
