'Apex Legends' is declining. Monthly revenue dropped by 74%, and play time at Twitch is decreasing.

Monthly revenue of EA's Battle Royal Game 'Apex Legends' have dropped by 74% in the last two months, according to market researcher ‘SuperData’. In February, monthly revenue was 92 million dollars, but in April, monthly revenue was down to 24 million dollars.

The Battle Royal game 'Apex Legends', developed by Respawn Entertainment, was released in February. 'Apex Legends' surpassed 2 million concurrent users in a week and exceeded 50 million users in a month. It also became a popular game in the game streaming platform 'Twitch'. In South Korea, it ranked 10th in the ‘PC bang’(internet game cafe) rankings (Gametrics, The Log)  even before it was released.

But this momentum did not last long. The first challenge was cheating programs. As the game became more popular, more and more users were using various cheating programs. Cheating programs sellers advertised their cheating programs while they are playing the game. Because of the cheating programs, the popularity of the ‘Apex Legends’ has declined. Respawn Entertainment banned a lot of accounts that used cheating programs, but it could not stop the decline.

It is also a problem that new content that is noticeable has not been added. 'Apex Legends' has only one map and one mode. Other Battle Royal games provide various maps, or add various maps after the game is released. However, the ‘Apex Legends’ only added one new character.

And it is very regrettable that no new maps have been added. Game speed of 'Apex Legends' is faster than other battle royal games. If the user enjoys the same time, they will play more games than other battle royal games. Therefore, the user can be fed up with the map more quickly. Therefore, it is important to add new maps faster than other Battle Royal games. However, no new maps have been added yet.

There are many voices asking to add a solo mode. But it has not been reflected yet. Other Battle Royal games normally have a solo mode, a dual mode, and a squad mode. In those games, you can enjoy the game by yourself or as a team. However, in 'Apex Legends', there is only one option.

As a result, the popularity of the ‘Apex Legends’ has fallen. Monthly revenue declined by 74% in just two months. 'Apex Legends' has also disappeared from the list of popular games in 'Twitch', and it is hard to find South Korean game streamers who play 'Apex Legends'.
