NEOWIZ is continuing the momentum from its successful package and mobile games into this year.

NEOWIZ’s financial results for 2023 included sales of KRW 365.6 billion, an operating income of KRW 31.7 billion, and a net income of KRW 46.4 billion. Compared to the previous year, the company’s sales increased by 24.1%, its operating income by 62.2%, and its net income by 252%. This marks the highest sales performance in 10 years, since the KRW 442.9 billion that was recorded in 2013.

This achievement is due to the success of new games across all platforms. On PC/console platforms, the globally successful soul-like game “Lies of P” and the platformer “SANABI” were instrumental.

“Lies of P” is a soul-like action RPG that reinterprets the classic story of “Pinocchio”. It has won six Korean Game Awards and multiple awards overseas, while quickly ascending as a soul-like RPG acknowledged by players and the industry alike, surpassing one million sales within a month of its release.

In addition, “SANABI” is a 2D action game with an emotional Korean narrative that has received “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews from 97% of Steam users, leaving a strong impression with anticipation for a sequel.

Despite “Lies of P” being released in September and “SANABI” in November, resulting in a shorter period for the sales reflection, the PC/console game revenue reached KRW 170.7 billion, a 35.1% increase over the previous year. Steady sellers like “Skul” and “DJMax Respect V” also contributed to this performance.

On the mobile platform, “Brown Dust2” newly released in June and the currently popular live game “Cats & Soup,” along with other live game revenue, brought in KRW 154.7 billion, a 21.9% increase from the previous year.

As a result, the company’s share of PC/console sales has risen to 47%. Moreover, its domestic sales reached KRW 216.4 billion, up 9.1% from the previous year; while overseas sales grew by 55.1% to KRW 149.2 billion, making up 41% of the total sales. In fact, 74% of the revenue for “Brown Dust2,” 92% for “Lies of P,” and 97% for “Cats & Soup” were generated overseas.

This year, NEOWIZ plans to unveil a more diverse lineup of new titles. After “Zatch Bell: Friends of Eternal Bonds” that was released in Japan in January, the match-3 puzzle game “Oh my Anne,” based on the Canadian novel “Anne of Green Gables,” is set to be launched soon after the recently starting pre-registration.

The simulation game “Cats & Soup: Magic Recipe,” social network games, and two new titles based on the “Cats & Soup” IP, as well as the sports game “Pro Soccer: Legend Eleven,” idle RPG “Project IG,” and the collection RPG “The Legend of Heroes: Gagharv Trilogy” developed by the company’s subsidiary POW Games are also being pushed for release this year.

In particular, NEOWIZ has high expectations for the “Gagharv Trilogy.” Based on the famous Japanese game IP “The Legend of Heroes,” a trial version was showcased at G-Star 2023.

Furthermore, NEOWIZ is continuing sales for “Lies of P” with the release of a story expansion DLC and is planning to introduce the healing idle game “Cats & Soup,” which recently obtained a Chinese publishing license, to the Chinese market in the first half of this year.

NEOWIZ has set the mid-to-long-term business goal of securing a global IP fandom, with a focused plan to discover single-player based PC/console game IPs and expand them into series, thereby solidifying the fandom of games with established fan bases.

To achieve this, NEOWIZ is actively engaging in this aim. They have secured a new title by investing KRW 22.4 billion in BLANK. Game Studios, a Polish game developer founded by key members of the “Cyberpunk 2077” developer CD PROJEKT RED. In addition, Director Jin Seung-ho, who developed “Buried Stars,” has been brought on board to advance a new PC/console narrative game project, seeking for a diversification of genres and to challenge the record for the highest sales revenue ever.
