NEXON conducted its first Focus Group Test (FGT) for the upcoming title “The First Berserker: Khazan” from February 3rd to 5th. The response from the players who participated in the test was positive, with their feedback highlighting the incorporation of the action and excitement from the original into boss battles.

“Khazan” is an action game being developed by NEOPLE, with the goal of expanding the universe of “Dungeon & Fighter (Dunfa).” It is known for its high difficulty level and action-oriented content, while resembling the Soul-like genre.

The initial test of “Khazan” was conducted in Pangyo in a closed manner. About 8,400 applicants applied for the selection of a total of 24 participants, resulting in a competition rate of 400-to-1. The high level of anticipation stemmed from the fact that this is a single-player game being developed by NEXON and NEOPLE.

FGTs typically demand confidentiality in relation to all aspects of the game content and progress. Thus the participants in the “Khazan” FGT were unable to disclose specific details, but have been instead writing reviews on the overall gameplay and testing process. Overall, it seems there is still a long way to go until its completion.

Soul-like games generally pursue the excitement of exploration and action. It has been speculated that the first FGT for “Khazan” focused on an inspection of the action system. The revealed trailer video confirmed the features of boss battles, ensuring an enjoyable experience. Typical actions such as parrying enemy attacks and short invincibility periods for dodging were showcased, leaving viewers with a strong impression. Additionally, scenes of avoiding attacks raining down from long distances were notable.

Given that the game deals with the past timeline of the original, there is curiosity regarding the appearance of popular monsters. In particular, characters like Khazan and Apostle Ozma, who are known as heroes and villains in the original universe, have high expectations for the stories they will unfold.

NEOPLE plans to focus on incorporating the user feedback into improvements until the game’s completion. As the first FGT mainly focused on checking for any deficiencies, they expressed their intention to actively accept further feedback.

In 2024, NEXON will continues to introduce new titles across various genres. This year, anticipation is high for the next scheduled release of “The First Berserker: Khazan.”
