NEXUS, which is developing a blockchain gaming platform, shared updates on its business at G-Star.

On November 13, the company held a press conference at BEXCO in Busan, where G-Star 2025 took place, outlining its current projects and vision for future initiatives.

At the event, NEXUS CEO Jang Hyun-guk shared his thoughts, saying, “Through various ventures, I have come to believe more than anyone in the vision and potential of combining blockchain and gaming. I have resolved to devote the rest of my life to proving this vision, and decided to build a blockchain gaming platform—not just another blockchain game—because in the end, there is room for only one platform in the world.”

The following is a summary of the Q&A session held during the event.

Q : How is the blockchain gaming market evolving in Japan, and how are you responding to the local environment?

While Japan does not impose strict regulations on gaming, Web3 titles have yet to gain significant traction there. Even games like MIR4 have struggled in the Japanese market. Meanwhile, LINE’s dApp services are performing well, particularly with casual titles that have received positive responses. We see this as an opportunity. Our upcoming title SHOUT! is set to officially launch on LINE in Japan within the next two to three weeks. Together with LINE, we are also planning a series of promotional events at schools across the country.

Q : What is the current global status of R.O.H.A.N.2?

It’s difficult to share specific figures, but our performance in October was quite solid — at a level that both the developer and our team are satisfied with. What’s especially important is the immersive tokenomics: the price of Ruby has remained stable at around $0.01. The game token traded with Ruby sees about $30,000 in daily trading volume, which means a real market worth roughly KRW 400 million per month has been established.

Q : What are your key goals for next year, and which title will take the spotlight after R.O.H.A.N.2?

We are currently finalizing contracts for several highly anticipated games, though we’ve chosen to delay the announcement as some users still hold reservations about Web3 titles. More than five MMORPGs are in the pipeline—each of which performed better than R.O.H.A.N.2 in the past. Our focus next year will be on expanding content and advancing our AI capabilities. We are also developing additional components essential to the blockchain ecosystem, including a Web3 browser. While companies profit from advertising, user data is often held elsewhere. I believe blockchain can make it both technically and economically possible to change that, and we are building a team dedicated to realizing it. We are also working on a Web3 messenger. Just as KakaoTalk once broke down the barriers of traditional online banking, we believe a messenger can transform the remittance and payment experience—and we intend to expand our ecosystem through it.

Q : Major corporations are exploring similar ideas. To what extent do you think NEXUS can compete?

The ideas may be similar, but what truly matters is execution. The old business model is no longer sustainable. With the right team, we have a real chance at success. Since many are hesitant to enter the space because of their fear of crypto, time is on our side. I still believe there’s room for a more open messenger. We still have work to do before we can truly compete with them.

Q : Could you share the specific vision and strategy behind Verse8?

We surpassed 3 million users in October, showing steady growth without any major push. For Web3, we’ve partnered with CROSS and plan to bring easy and enjoyable games into the Web3 space. We also intend to encourage game development utilizing Ara. The project is on track, having expanded to about seven times the size of our initial investment. The goal of Verse8 is to continue scaling while focusing on building traffic rather than falling into the trap of early monetization.

Q : When can we expect the first games to launch through Verse8?

We plan to release a steady stream of light yet high-quality games.

Q : How are you securing funding?

I believe that sustainable growth should be backed by financial stability. We have been consistently generating profits, and that stability will continue.

Q : There was an airdrop of 10 million tokens on Binance. Were you informed about it in advance?

The exchange is under no obligation to consult with us, and as far as I know, we were simply notified. We initially started on Binance Alpha and are now listed on Binance Futures, moving step by step toward the next stage. While the price drop was certainly not ideal, it has since recovered. I see it as part of a natural progression in our journey.

Q: You recently partnered with Redlab Games. Could you share more details about the nature of this collaboration?

Unfortunately, this is one of the cases I can’t go into detail about. CEO Shin Hyun-keun and I previously worked together at NEOWIZ and have stayed in touch since then. I heard he’s recently taken a strong interest in Web3, and that naturally led to discussions about working more closely together.

Q: When do you expect to become the largest shareholder?

We can exercise our call option for six months starting January 8 next year. Once exercised, our stake will surpass the current majority, making us the largest shareholder.

Q: What are your plans regarding a potential Hong Kong listing?

Although Hong Kong’s legal framework is similar to that of the US, there is still significant government intervention, so we determined it wasn’t the right fit. Instead, we have signed an MOU with a bank in the UAE and are currently in discussions with partners in Indonesia, Thailand, and Taiwan.

Q: You set up a BTB booth at G-Star. What led to your participation?

We joined G-Star with the goal of meeting various game companies and sharing our achievements. We designed the booth as an open space and have been actively engaging in discussions with potential partners.

Q: What are your plans for listing the CROSS Coin?

It will happen naturally once we prove the project’s capabilities.
